R/V John H. Martin Schedule & Request Form

Description: The research vessel JOHN H. MARTIN was donated to Moss Landing Marine Laboratories by Mr. Jeff Meyer. The 56-foot vessel was built in 1985 by Westport Boat Builders for charter fishing. The JOHN H. MARTIN has been equipped as an oceanographic research vessel capable of trawling, bottom sampling, hydrographic sampling, side scanning, limited geophysical surveying, dive operations and bird/mammal surveys.

Features: The outstanding feature of the JOHN H. MARTIN is its speed, enabling rapid transit to and from work sites in and around Monterey Bay. The conversion has added an A-frame, winch, flying bridge observation platform, and a dive ladder. The cabin area can accommodate computers and other dry scientific equipment. The JOHN H. MARTIN is equipped with a Seabird thermosalinograph, a Seabird flurometer, an underway data acquisition system, a Teledyne Workhorse acoustic doppler current profiler, Simrad EK 60 Echo Sounder, and NEMA 2000 and 183 networks.

Space and Calendar Managers Instructions:

  • When the user submits a reservation request, the “owner/manager” of each space will receive an email containing the details of the request and the user will receive a confirmation email that their request has been successfully submitted (but not yet approved).
  • If no conflict exists, the owner/manager will then create an event on the corresponding Google Calendar.
    • Format for calendar event title - 
      • “# of people - Location -  sub-location (if applicable) - Lastname(s)”
    • Copy and paste the details of the reservation request into the “Description” field in the corresponding Google Calendar.
  • IMPORTANT: ALL Calendars must be kept accurate in order to trace contacts
    • If any event is moved or cancelled, the calendars must reflect this.
  • Send reservation approval email.  There is no automatic approval email sent to the user. The email template is located here.
  • On the day of the reservation, the owner/manager will then need to fill out the contact tracing spreadsheet (provided by Jim or Jocelyn)
