Corina I. Marks
Corina graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Systems with an emphasis in Ecology, Behavior, & Environmental Policy. After graduating, Corina worked primarily at sea as a marine technician for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Physical Oceanography Research Division. During this time, she worked on trans-Pacific voyages collecting high density temperature measurements and sea water samples for climatological research and the Global Ocean Observing System.
Both Corina's passion for conducting science relevant to marine resource management and her desire to learn more about geographic information systems (GIS) brought her to California State University, Monterey Bay in pursuit of a master's degree. Here, she worked on the California Seafloor Mapping Project and with the Center for Ocean Solutions studying the relationship between ecosystem indicators and cumulative human impacts along the central California coast. Corina graduated with an M.Sc. in Coastal Policy and Science in 2012.
Corina worked as a technician with the Fisheries and Conservation Biology Lab. Her work included collaborative research on the status of Rockfish Conservation Areas in California. She also monitored MPAs with CCFRP and Reef Check CA, and studied the distribution and habitat associations of overfished species.
