In collaboration with MLML’s Central Coasts Wetland Groups (CCWG), we are investigating the capacity of biochar to remove phosphate from contaminated wastewaters. To achieve this goal, we are performing a series of batch adsorption experiments with various grades of biochar in the laboratory. These data will allow us to quantify the amount of phosphate that can be removed per unit mass of biochar, which will help scaling up this promising passive treatment technology at a larger scale in the region.
