For aquaculture to be a successful, growing industry in California’s future, we not only need to address the scientific challenges, but also the social and governmental impediments to further aquaculture development.

POLICY ELEMENTS

Assess issues such as intellectual property, sustainability, best practices, risk analysis, ecological trade-offs, spatial marine planning, culturing of endangered species, development of new markets and supply chains, and compliance with sustainable seafood certification program specifications

Engage with policy makers to provide the best available science and information to inform responsible decision regarding aquaculture


Develop public relations and outreach activities with industry and agency partners
