STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before proceeding, you should have already 1) selected a potential faculty advisor through whom to apply to MLML, 2) contacted that faculty member to schedule an interview, and 3) selected a CSU campus through which to apply.

STEP 1: 3 Letters of Recommendation emailed to MLML by Feb. 15

You need to request 3 letters of recommendation from people familiar with your academic and/or professional background.

Letters must be emailed directly from your recommenders as a PDF attachment to the MLML Graduate Program Coordinator at gradprog@mlml.calstate.edu by Feb. 15.

Letters do not need to be sent/emailed to your CSU campus; they need only be emailed to MLML. You should request your letters from your recommenders at least 8 weeks prior to the Feb. 15 deadline.

STEP 2: Official transcripts mailed to your CSU campus by Feb 15

You need to order official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you've attended, and have them mailed to the Admissions office of your chosen CSU campus (at the addresses below).

You should do this at least 8 weeks prior to the Feb. 15 deadline to ensure they arrive at your chosen CSU campus in time.

MLML does not need official transcripts mailed to us; they need only be mailed to your chosen CSU campus Admissions office.

International applicants must also have official TOEFL scores mailed to the chosen CSU campus by Feb. 15

3. Unofficial Transcripts - from all post-secondary institutions you've attended

4. Unofficial GRE Scores - MLML does not require the GRE but you may submit your unofficial GRE scores to MLML by either downloading your score report from the ETS website, or scanning the score report mailed to you by ETS.

International applicants must also submit an unofficial copy of TOEFL scores, in addition to all of the above materials.

NOTIFICATION

Applicants can expect to receive an admission decision from MLML's Graduate Program Coordinator by about April 15. Students accepted by MLML should receive official CSU admission notification from their chosen CSU campussoon thereafter. Acceptance is not official until notifications from both MLML and the CSU are received.
