For my thesis, I am exploring multi-trophic mariculture in restoration to understand foundation species effects on community structure and ecosystem functionality. I use aquaculture methods to study factors that limit Olympia oyster recruitment in the Elkhorn Slough’s tidal wetlands habitat. Before joining Dr. Amanda Kahn’s and Dr. Luke Gardner’s labs at MLML, I studied marine biology and marine affairs, policy and management at the University of Rhode Island. Today, I am particularly interested in research that values traditional ecological knowledge, inclusive management practices, and diverse environmental perspectives. Mostly find me chasing after the dog named Kiwi (short for Kirimi).
