Caleb Hernandez is a first-generation McNair Scholar at CSUMB, committed to advancing diversity in the research field and conducting accessible science for the public. He is a senior who is interested in pursuing a PhD in coral ecology research, specifically investigating resource exchanges from mutual relationships between symbionts and hosts. Currently, he is working on his undergraduate honor thesis in the Kahn Lab, investigating the feeding habits, food preferences, and juvenile growth of Pycnopodia helianthoides, the Sunflower Sea Star (THIS MIGHT CHANGE, LOL.). Beyond the lab coat, he loves spending time with friends, exploring the outdoors, traveling to new places, and trying different cuisines.
