Unlike its name, this new addition isn't so giant - barely 4 inches long!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8832 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/12\/stereolepis.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Juvenile Giant Sea Bass\" width=\"376\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/12\/stereolepis.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/12\/stereolepis-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/12\/stereolepis-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/12\/stereolepis-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Giant sea bass are found along the west coast from Humboldt Bay to Baja California, Mexico and can reach up to 8 feet long. While rarely seen\u00a0in the Monterey Bay, they are recovering from overfishing and are being seen more in southern California.\u00a0The aquarium also has a sub-adult in the Kelp Forest tank, and two adults in their Monterey Bay Habitat exhibit.
