Library COVID Updates & Services

Library COVID Updates & Services

The MLML/MBARI Research Library space is open to MLML affiliates. Library services and resources are available online! More information below.

The physical library space is open to MLML affiliates. If you are an MBARI affiliate, otherwise not affiliated, or need assistance with research or checking out a book, please email us at library@mlml.calstate.edu. We are here for you virtually!

  • Library Use: We welcome you to access the library spaces for browsing the shelves, checking out books, printing, and asking us questions. We do ask that you limit your time spent using the library space for other activities (i.e. gathering and studying)
  • Sign In/Out: A QR code is posted on the door at the library’s entrance. Please scan the code and fill out the google form as you enter and exit the library. The form will ask for your name, as well as the time and date you entered or exited the library. This information will help us contact trace in the event of COVID exposure.

Library staff are working both onsite and remotely this semester. We are generally available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. We can help you locate and access journal articles, assist with course reserves, improve your database searching, and much more! Please email library staff (library@mlml.calstate.edu) or librarian Katie Lage (klage@mlml.calstate.edu) for assistance.

Our entire library collection can be found in OneSearch, our online library catalog. A link to the record in OneSearch is helpful when locating your book!

MLML affiliates are also welcome to come browse the stacks and check out books in-person, following the instructions for using library spaces.

MBARI affiliate and those otherwise not affiliated, please email the title and author of the your requested item to library@mlml.calstate.edu and we will coordinate a time to get it to you.

  • Sign In/Out: A QR code is posted on the door at the library’s entrance. Please scan the code and fill out the google form as you enter and exit the library. The form will ask for your name, as well as the time and date you entered or exited the library. This information will help us contact trace in the event of COVID exposure.

The Library is currently accepting Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests for articles and book chapters that can be delivered electronically, including for materials which we only have in print in our library. Patrons are now able to submit CSU+ requests for physical books through OneSearch. Currently, we are still unable to request physical books through ILL at this time, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Instructions for submitting an ILL request via ILLiad can be found here.

Courtesy returns  give students who live closer to a CSU other than their home campus the ability to return their materials.

How do I return my CSU library books?

  • You can return your books to any CSU campus library regardless of where you initially checked them out. The CSU libraries have a cooperative agreement ensuring that books will be sent to the appropriate location.

What if I cannot make it to any CSU campus to return my books?

  • Please contact the circulation department at your home campus if you are unable to bring your books to any CSU library.

What if I checked out a laptop or some other kind of technology?

  • Most CSU Libraries have also extended due dates on laptops and technology, but they will have to be returned directly to the owning campus. Please contact your home library if you have questions.

How do I find the closest CSU Library or contact my home library?

  • Maps and contact information for all 23 CSU Libraries are available here
