Here, she participated in both physiology and analytical chemistry research. She is currently working with collaborators from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and California Polytechnic State University to study genomic variation in Olympia oysters (Ostrea lurida), California’s only native oyster species. Using low-coverage, whole genome sequencing (lcWGS), her research assesses genetic diversity of a local O. lurida population within the Elkhorn Slough, to understand impacts of current captive breeding conditions. In addition, her research will compare genomic diversity and connectivity of the Elkhorn Slough population as it exists today to that of surrounding populations. The goal of her thesis project is to provide valuable information for future resource management purposes. Her hobbies include reading mystery novels in her hammock, crocheting asymmetrical blankets and scarves, camping, and playing with her dog and cat.

AHeasleyCV_2022

Contact Information: anna.heasley@sjsu.edu | aheasley@mlml.calstate.edu Anna Heasley earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2019 from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
