Denney<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/mlml.sjsu.edu\/fisheries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2018\/05\/DenneyThesisFINAL.pdf\">Characterization of a New Stereo-Video Tool to Survey Deep Water Benthic Fish Assemblages with Comparison to a Remotely Operated Vehicle<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Christian graduated from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucdavis.edu\/index.html\">University of California at Davis<\/a>\u00a0in 2009 with an B.S. in Biological Sciences and an emphasis in Marine Biology.\u00a0 He worked for the next 9 months with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfg.ca.gov\/\">California Department of Fish and Game<\/a>\u00a0as a Scientific Aide, monitoring invasive pike populations in the Sierras.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to work with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfw.state.or.us\/\">Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife<\/a>\u00a0as a Port Sampler for the commercial salmon fishery in Charleston, Oregon.\u00a0 Christian joined the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/seagrant.mlml.calstate.edu\/\">Fisheries &amp; Conservation Biology Lab<\/a>\u00a0at MLML in the fall of 2010.\u00a0 He is interested in fish ecology and how fish species use and interact with their environments, as well as conservation biology and the intersection of conservation and human resource use.<\/p>\n<p>He completed his thesis, titled \u201cCharacterization of a new stereo-video tool to survey deep water benthic fish assemblages with comparison to a remotely operated vehicle\u201d in December of 2017. Portions of his first chapter were published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jove.com\/video\/56635\/development-new-methods-for-quantifying-fish-density-using-underwater\">Journal of Visualized Experiments in\u00a0 November <\/a>of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Christian currently does data analysis, R programming, and ecological modeling in the Biogeochemistry and Fish Ecology Lab at the University of California, Davis.
