represented as the number of fish caught per angler hour) is used as a proxy for density.\u00a0 When looking at all species combined, CPUE is higher inside MPAs than outside (with the exception of A\u00f1o Nuevo, in some years).\u00a0 Initial differences in catch rates are due to varying levels of habitat quality\u00a0at the time of MPA implementation.\u00a0 Additionally, MPA and REF catch
