CCFRP in Review: Data Interpretations<\/h3>\n

This webpage provides results from seven\u00a0years of data collection as part of the\u00a0California Collaborative Fisheries Research Program<\/a>\u00a0(CCFRP).\u00a0 Although these results provide useful information for fisheries management and the evaluation of marine protected area (MPA) performance, additional monitoring is necessary to answer questions surrounding long-term effects.<\/p>\n

To help evaluate MPAs, CCFRP has collaboratively developed standardized protocols, which attempt to answer the following questions:<\/p>\n

  1. Do MPAs result in larger fishes when compared to associated reference (REF) sites?<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Do MPAs increase reproductive output of their residents?<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Do MPAs increase the density of species that are fished outside of their bounds?<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  4. How do individual central California MPAs compare to one another?<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
  5. How can we use MPA monitoring to inform fisheries management?<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
