My research experiences in undergrad consisted mostly of classwork studying choice behavior in primates (rhesus macaques, capuchins, and squirrel monkeys), bees, and rats. My first experience with marine biology was during a class titled "Biology and Behavior of Marine Vertebrates" that I took while studying abroad in New Zealand and my interest was immediately piqued. After spending a summer working at a zip-line course in Montana, I applied to the Vertebrate Ecology Lab as an intern in order to learn more about marine mammal research. I had the opportunity to assist on research projects involving northern elephants seals and humpback whales as well as work with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network. I joined the lab as a student in the fall of 2020 and my research interests include life history and behavioral ecology of wild marine animals. Outside of school I work as a kayak guide and naturalist in Monterey Bay.

Emma Nicholson I graduated from Bucknell University in the spring of 2018 with a BS degree in Animal Behavior.
